NOOMI RAPACE

Noomi Rapace, a Swedish actress, was born in 1979 in Hudiksvall. She attained international success in 2009 starring as Lisbeth Salander in the MILLENNIUM trilogy, based on the novels by Stieg Larsson.

She decided to become an actress at the age of 7 after playing a film extra. She won the Danish Bodil Award for playing the leading role Anna in Simon Staho’s Daisy Diamond (2007).

In 2010 she received a Swedish Guldbagge Award for best actress in a leading role for The Girl Who Played with Fire, the first part of the Millennium trilogy. The film also won the Audience Choice Award. Noomi Rapace was nominated for best actress in a leading role in the 2009 European Film Awards for her interpretation of Lisbeth Sallander. She was also awarded the Dagens Nyheter Culture Prize that year.

In her latest role she plays Leena in Pernilla August’s directorial debut, Svinalängorna, based on Susanna Alakoski’s best-selling novel, due for release Autumn, 2010.

She speaks Swedish, English and Icelandic. Is married to actor Ola Rapace, and they have a son, Lev.
